2020 LEAGUE INFORMATION
We are trying to be proactive with the 2020 golf leagues, by trying to get different options together. Currently the golf course still has 2 to 3 feet of snow covering it, so at best we might be ready for play by the end of April if AHS and the NGCOA can agree on procedures to ensure that golf is a safe activity for people in our communities and that it can also provide the mental health support that many are seeking during these very stressful times.
Currently Men’s and Ladies leagues are scheduled to run for 18 weeks from May 4- Sept 1, and we are hoping that we will be able to follow this schedule. If the weather and AHS do not allow for this our worst-case scenario would be to start June 1 – Sept 15 and play for 16 weeks, or something between these two scenarios.
Whenever we are able to start, we need to have registration completed in advance. At this time customers are not allowed in the clubhouse. When we can start, there could still be limits on the number of people in the clubhouse so we need to ensure we will have proper social distancing. We prefer online registration at this time. Many teams have already registered but those that have not we need registrations and league green fees completed by April 25th online here or phone the clubhouse with your credit card (780)538-3393. I have also attached both Men’s and Ladies League registrations to this email as well. If we are delayed starting due to the weather or AHS rules, all green fee players will be given green fee passes that can be used at any other time during the year.( ie: If we only can schedule 16 weeks you would receive 2 green fee passes to use at other times during the year per player)
We don’t have all league players email addresses so if you can forward this email to your other team members would be greatly appreciated. Also in all likelihood if we do start in May we will not be able to have a shotgun start for men’s league. We will need all teams to let us know the earliest they can start with T-times until the circumstances would allow a 6 PM shotgun start for all.
Bear Creek Golf Club would like to thank all members and league players for their support during these stressful times. We are all in this together. Our family has owned Bear Creek for over 20 years. It is not for the faint of heart. We prefer to make lemonade with our lemons. Just like our province, we will grow, learn, and discover new ways of surviving. It’s never been more important than now to support those privately owned small businesses. Everyone is hurting. Parking lots are empty. The privately owned businesses are in a battle unlike the ones they’ve fought before.
Support them. Choose them.
Thanks to everyone in our Bear Creek Family
